Terms of Use

This English text is for information only. In case of discrepancy, the Turkish version prevails.

By using the gerekli.tr platform, you declare that you have read, understood, and accepted the following terms. These terms define the legal framework between you and the platform.

1. Service Description and Scope

gerekli.tr is an independent academic planning platform developed for Hacettepe University students, currently offered as a free student helper tool. Services provided include:

  • Course schedule creation and conflict detection
  • GPA (grade point average) calculation
  • Attendance tracking and semester management
  • Academic calendar and department guides
  • Cloud synchronization (optional, requires an account)
  • Course schedule share links (optional)

To use the platform, you must be at least 18 years old or use the service with your legal guardian's consent. For details, see Section 5 of the Privacy Policy.

The platform is not operated, endorsed, or supported by Hacettepe University or any official institution. Official academic processes must be verified through the university's authorized systems.

2. User Obligations

When using the platform, you agree to comply with the following rules:

  • Create an account with accurate and up-to-date information
  • Be responsible for the security of your account credentials
  • Use the platform only for personal academic planning purposes
  • Not engage in automated scraping, DDoS, or system abuse
  • Not attempt unauthorized access to other users' data
  • Not use the platform for unlawful purposes

3. Academic Disclaimer

Course schedules, GPA calculations, attendance tracking, and all academic information provided by gerekli.tr are for assistance and informational purposes only. No guarantee is given regarding the accuracy, timeliness, or completeness of this information.

Please exercise particular caution regarding the following:

  • Course catalogs are compiled from university records and may contain errors, omissions, or outdated information
  • Conflict detection algorithms may not cover all edge cases; always compare your final schedule with OBS (Student Information System)
  • GPA calculations are approximate values; your official transcript takes precedence
  • Attendance tracking is a personal record-keeping tool; it does not reflect your official attendance status
  • Academic calendar information may change; follow official university announcements

Official academic decisions regarding course registration, scholarships, graduation, attendance limits, and similar matters are made solely by authorized units of Hacettepe University. gerekli.tr accepts no responsibility for any such decisions.

4. User Content and Share Links

Course schedules, GPA data, and attendance records you create belong to you. When you create a share link, the content becomes accessible via a public URL; anyone with the URL can access it. You create and share the link; you alone are responsible for who receives the share link and for its content. Share links expire at academic term end + 60 days, or 180 days after creation when academic calendar data is unavailable.

Shared schedules may show instructor names in full; schedule image exports may show only the instructor's surname.

gerekli.tr reserves the right to remove shares containing unlawful content, rights violations, or terms of use violations, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and with notice where reasonably possible.

5. Intellectual Property

The gerekli.tr platform's software, design, logo, and original content are protected by copyright. The source code may include open-source components; applicable licenses are specified in the GitHub repository.

Course catalog data is compiled from publicly available academic information of Hacettepe University. Department guides and usage manuals are prepared by gerekli.tr.

6. Modification and Termination of Service

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, gerekli.tr reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the service temporarily or permanently. Significant changes will be announced in advance where possible.

In cases of serious security risk, abuse, or unlawful use, account access may be restricted or terminated; notice will be provided where reasonably possible.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, gerekli.tr does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the platform. The service is provided "as is." We cannot be held liable for direct or indirect damages arising from the following:

  • Planning decisions based on incorrect or incomplete course information
  • Data loss (local or cloud)
  • Third-party service outages (Supabase, Google, Vercel, PostHog, Sentry, etc.)
  • Data deletion caused by user error
  • Temporary or permanent shutdown of the platform

8. Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. Ankara courts and enforcement offices have jurisdiction over disputes.
